DA and CDC approval coordination

Clear, project-specific coordination of drawings, reports, consultants and submission inputs for development application and complying development pathways in NSW.

Keep the approval pathway organised

Approval pathways can involve owners, designers, specialist consultants, builders, councils and registered certifiers. SCE Corp can coordinate agreed project inputs, responsibilities and document flow so the right information reaches the relevant decision-maker.

The consent authority or registered certifier—not SCE Corp—determines whether an application meets the applicable planning and certification requirements. Approval and assessment timeframes cannot be guaranteed. We confirm our coordination scope after reviewing the property, proposed work and available records.

DA and CDC are different pathways

Development application (DA)

A DA is generally assessed by the relevant consent authority, usually the local council. The assessment can consider planning controls, site impacts, submissions and any required supporting reports.

Complying development certificate (CDC)

A CDC is a combined planning and construction approval pathway for development that meets all applicable standards. A council or registered certifier may issue it after confirming eligibility and compliance.

What coordination may include

  • Reviewing the proposed scope and available site information
  • Identifying likely drawings, reports and consultant inputs
  • Maintaining an agreed responsibility and document register
  • Coordinating responses to requests for further information
  • Tracking revisions, decisions and outstanding actions
  • Aligning approval inputs with the intended construction scope
  • Clarifying interfaces with regulated design obligations where relevant
  • Providing a project-specific handover of approval records

We track consultant inputs, revisions and submission-ready information.

Decision and handover

We record the outcome, conditions and next actions for the project team.

Frequently asked questions

Can SCE Corp decide whether a project qualifies for CDC?

No. We can help coordinate information for a pathway review, but the relevant council or registered certifier determines CDC eligibility and compliance.

Does coordination guarantee approval?

No. Approval decisions and assessment timeframes are controlled by the relevant authority or certifier. Our role is limited to the agreed project coordination scope.

Who prepares specialist reports and regulated designs?

Appropriately qualified or registered practitioners prepare work within their professional scope. We can coordinate their inputs when that responsibility is included in our engagement.

Can you coordinate a response to an information request?

Yes, where agreed. We can track the request, allocate actions and coordinate revised inputs from the responsible project participants.

What should I provide for an initial review?

Useful records include the site address, a clear description of the proposed work, available plans, survey information, prior approvals and any correspondence from council or a certifier.

Discuss your approval coordination needs

Send us the property address, proposed scope and available plans. We will confirm whether we can assist and define a project-specific coordination scope.
