Remedial works address defects, damage, water ingress, structural issues or compliance risks. Refurbishment improves the use, layout, finishes or performance of an existing asset. Some projects require both remedial and refurbishment scopes, depending on the condition of the building and the client’s objective.

The NSW Design and Building Practitioners framework applies to certain regulated building work and can affect practitioner roles, design documentation, declarations, records and compliance pathways. Project requirements depend on the building class, scope, design status and regulated work.

SCE Corp commonly delivers remedial upgrades, façade and cladding works, recladding, roof replacement, waterproofing interfaces, strata repairs, insurance repairs, refurbishment, fitout and building-upgrade works. SCE Corp delivers civil construction works including earthworks, concreting, drainage, underground services, pavements, roads, bridge-related works, rail and station-related scopes, subdivisions and infrastructure interfaces. Civil works are planned around drawings, access, services, safety controls, staging, approvals and authority requirements.

Safety and disruption are managed through staged work zones, access control, site communication, JSA or SWMS requirements where applicable, supervision, inspections and close-out records. On occupied sites, SCE Corp also considers residents, tenants, public access, noise, dust, protection works and work sequencing.

SCE Corp can assist with suitable urgent make-safe works, damage assessment, temporary protection, insurance-repair coordination and permanent-repair planning. Emergency work is prioritised around safety, access, risk control and practical stabilisation before final remediation.

Project quality is managed through scope review, planning, inspections, hold points where required, material and subcontractor coordination, progress records, issue tracking, corrective actions and handover documentation. The level of documentation depends on the project type, risk profile and contractual requirements.
