Bring the wider project costs into view before you commit to a renovation or extension. Add your own allowances and see what still needs confirmation.
This planner totals your inputs. It does not predict construction prices, property value, tax savings or approval eligibility. Avoid double-counting items already covered in your construction allowance.
No login or email required. The tool keeps your answers in this tab. Choose the optional review link to carry the summary to Contact SCE; nothing is submitted automatically.

Renovation and extension budget planning FAQs
Does this planner calculate the cost of my renovation?
It totals the allowances you enter; it does not predict market construction prices or provide a quote. Use figures supported by your scope, available quotes and professional advice. Items without a confirmed allowance should remain blank so the gaps stay visible.
Which costs should I include beyond the builder’s quote?
Review design and consultant fees, approvals and inspections, utility upgrades, demolition and disposal, site preparation, relocation or storage and other project allowances. Only add a cost separately when it is not already included in your construction allowance.
How should I handle GST in my budget?
Use a consistent GST basis for the amounts you enter and select whether they include or exclude GST. If the basis is mixed or unconfirmed, identify that uncertainty before comparing totals. The planner does not determine your tax position or tax savings.
What contingency percentage should I choose?
The planner lets you choose your own allowance from 0 to 100 per cent and apply it to construction only or all entered costs. It does not prescribe a suitable rate. Your project scope, unresolved conditions and advice from the project team should inform the allowance.
Should an unknown cost be entered as zero?
Leave an unknown cost blank. Enter zero only when the item is confirmed as not applicable or already allowed for elsewhere. This keeps an unresolved cost from looking as though it has been checked and excluded.
Does creating a budget send my information to SCE?
No. The planner keeps your answers in the current tab and does not submit them automatically. You can copy or print the summary. The optional review link carries the summary to Contact SCE, where you choose whether to submit an enquiry.
