Construction quote comparison tool NSW
Compare what two construction quotes actually cover. Record the price basis, identify gaps and prepare written questions before selecting a contractor.
Use the same drawings, quantities and scope for both quotes. Blank prices stay unconfirmed. This tool highlights differences; it does not score contractors or identify a best-value winner.
No login or email required. The tool keeps your answers in this tab. Choose the optional review link to carry the summary to Contact SCE; nothing is submitted automatically.

Construction quote comparison FAQs
How do I compare two construction quotes fairly?
Start with the same drawings, quantities and scope, then compare what each quote includes and excludes. Record the GST basis, provisional items, access arrangements, approvals, programme, testing and handover. Differences should become written clarification questions before you compare the overall offers.
Does the tool tell me which contractor to choose?
No. It highlights scope and price-basis differences and prepares a comparison brief. It does not score contractors or select a best-value winner. Contractor capability, project fit and the clarified written terms still need to be assessed.
How should excluded costs be entered?
Add only your own allowance for costs excluded from each quote. Do not repeat amounts already included in the quoted price. Leave unconfirmed prices blank and identify the information you need from the contractor.
Why should provisional sums and prime-cost items be checked?
They can leave parts of the final cost dependent on later information or selections. Record how each quote describes those items, what is allowed for and what remains uncertain. Ask the contractor to explain the allowance and how a change would be handled.
What if the quotes use different GST or scope assumptions?
Mark the differences as unconfirmed and ask for clarification before treating the totals as directly comparable. The tool records those gaps; it does not resolve tax treatment or make unlike construction scopes equivalent.
Do I need to upload confidential tender documents?
No. Use a reference such as Quote A or Quote B and enter only the information needed for your comparison. No login or email is required. The summary stays in the tab unless you choose to copy, print or carry it to the optional Contact SCE review form.
